Ayhan introduced Mediterranean cuisine to Long Island over 35 years ago, starting with the original Shish Kebab Restaurant in Port Washington. In 1990 Ayhan opened the Fish Kebab restaurant across the street in a converted bank building. Fish Kebab introduced Grilled Whole Fish to Long Island and still wins rave reviews for its Market Fresh Fish dishes.
Ayhan’s Mediterranean Marketplace & Gourmet Cafe completes the trio of Ayhan’s restaurants on the corner of Main Street and Shore Road. The Marketplace is also the “brick and mortar” basis for www.ayhansmarketplace.com, which enables customers to ship “Ayhan’s Famous” branded products and other Mediterranean foods to anywhere in the USA.
In recent years Ayhan opened popular Shish Kebab restaurants in Plainview, Baldwin and Westbury. And in 2012 Ayhan launched Pita Express, a fast, casual version of Mediterranean cuisine that is situated in the heart of Rockville Centre.
