Ayhan’s Mediterranean restaurants include some of Long Island’s favorite restaurants, and are acclaimed for their authentic Mediterranean cuisine, warm hospitality and lively ambiance. Ayhan’s Mediterranean restaurants are unique because they each serve a fusion cuisine that includes the best authentic dishes and beverages from Turkey, Greece, Israel, Cyprus and many other eastern Mediterranean regions.
Ayhan introduced Mediterranean cuisine to Long Island over 35 years ago, starting with the original Shish Kebab Restaurant in Port Washington. In 1990 Ayhan opened the Fish Kebab restaurant across the street in a converted bank building. Fish Kebab introduced Grilled Whole Fish to Long Island and still wins rave reviews for its Market Fresh Fish dishes.
Ayhan’s Mediterranean Marketplace & Gourmet Cafe completes the trio of Ayhan’s restaurants on the corner of Main Street and Shore Road. The Marketplace is also the “brick and mortar” basis for Ayhan’s Famous .com which enables customers to ship Mediterranean foods and books to anywhere in the USA. These products play an essential role in Ayhan’s 28 Day Mediterranean Diet, The Real Mediterranean Diet©, which was created by Ayhan with the help of dietitians and has been endorsed by doctors.
In recent years Ayhan opened popular Shish Kebab restaurants in Plainview and Baldwin. And in 2013, Ayhan proudly announced the opening of Ayhan’s Shish Kebab in Great Neck.
In 2016 Ayhan opened the exciting new Fish On Main, a Mediterranean Seafood Grill, in Port Washington. The restaurant updated the prior Fish Kebab concept and has received excellent reviews.
I just have to say that good things don’t change amongst your restaurants. I lived in Port Washington at the time of your opening there some time ago and the food was very good back them. Along with being seated in the restaurant and having an awesome meal we used to order the Gyros to go all the time. An amazing taste that absolutely no one on the Island nor Queens could match. I know I’ve tried. Now I live on the east end of Long Island and still can not find anyone that would even come close. Yesterday Jan 13th was our 10th yr anniv of the passing of our mother and in 2005 (when she passed) we ordered from the Port restaurant and EVERYTHING was just perfect. I try to duplicate the smells and tastes every Jan 13th since but not until I found out about and visited the Plainview restaurant that the smells and tastes all came together on this 10th yr anniv. I want to say, on behalf of my family, thank you so much.Ron M. - January 14, 2016
